1.12L Pending Land Conversion Request

Thiruvananthapuram: There are 1,12,539 applications that are looking for land type conversion from wetland land and rice plains to dry land (patchouli to purayidam) under the provisions of the Amendment Act of Rice and Wetlands, delayed at 27 Revenue Division offices (RDO) In the state.
A sharp increase in the application for delayed land conversion in various revenue offices has been considered since the government decided not to impose fees for land conversion of up to 25 cents to 25 cents.
According to the data, of the total delayed application, as many as 94,511 applications were received after April 1, 2021.
In seven RDO offices, namely, Kollam, Chengannur, Alappuzha, Muvattupuzha, Fort Kochi, Thrissur, Tirur, Kozhikode and TaliParamba, there are more than 5,000 applications Pending to be discarded, according to data.
Application for conversion of land patterns received at the RDO office, submitted to the village office, and the village officer concerned will then examine the land.
The village officer will prepare a report along with sketches and submit reports to RDO, based on where RDO receives calls on the application.
In accordance with the data fisted in the assembly in November last year, the government had obtained RS 447 Crore through land conversion in the state in one year to date.
To overcome environmental problems and capture the reduction of agricultural land areas, the government has introduced the Kerala Conservation of Paddy-Land and Wetland Act, 2008.
In accordance with the provisions of the law, while the conversion of wetlands has been completely prohibited, rice land can be filled only for home construction and for Public goal.
Families who do not have land other than rice ground is allowed to fill rice ground to 10 cents in the Panchayat area and up to five cents in the city to build a house, depending on conditions.
Disposal of applications for land conversion up to 50 cents is being carried out on the basis of the village officer report and for land conversion above 50 cents based on village officer reports and agricultural officers and also on the basis of satellite images from the ground.
Such strict provisions are included to ensure that the land is converted after 2008 (when the act applies) is irregular.
