Letter: Because the inflows of freshwater inflows, the discharge of the Madhuban Dam on the Daman Ganga River increased to 1.8 lakh hilir cusecs on Wednesday.
However, with a drop of rainwater flow, the outflow has also diminished later on.
The outflow at 6 pm was 1.76 lakh cusecs against the entry flow of 83,610 cusecs.
The water level in the dam is 79.2 meters against the full reservoir level of 79.86m.
On Wednesday morning, the Collector of the Valsad Kshipra District approved a warning on Twitter about the heavy discharge of the dam that warned residents in Valsad to stay away from the road cross and river banks.
“There is no estimate of heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours in the Madhuban Water catch area .
Meanwhile, no additional water was released from the UKAI dam because inflow was reduced to 18,561 cusecs on Wednesday.
At present 11,000 cusec water is being released through the canal.
The water level is 341.59 feet which almost three feet below the level of rules and 345 feet FRL.
“We store water to the level of rules and dams will be filled to the maximum level.
There is no heavy rainfall in the water catchment area but the dam will continue to receive fresh water,” said an official of Ukai.
Because of water storage, water release is stopped in the hydro power unit too.
Upstream Hatnur Ukai Dam released around 16,000 cusec water.
