Coimbatore: The death toll in the tragedy of the Tirupur staining unit rose to three on Monday, when one person died of shortness of breath.
The police identified the deceased when he was 55 years old Rajendran, who worked as fit with the unit in Kothukaduttam at Veerapandi.
The police said Rajendran, along with the Dinesh Pandian unit manager, had entered the waste tank to save two workers – Vadivel and Nagaraj – which was released to clean the tank on Sunday after they breathed poisonous smoke and fell unconscious.
While Vadivel and Dinesh died due to shortness of breath in the waste tank itself on Sundays, fires and firefighting service personnel had saved Rajendran and Nagaraj and claimed to be to the government medical college and hospital in Tirupur.
Rajendran died without responding to treatment early on Monday.
V Pugazhenthi, Joint Director, Industrial Safety and Health, Tirupur, check the unit on Monday.
“The unit does not allow any procedure and detailed reports will be submitted to the Director of the Industrial Safety and Health Service.” TNN.
