Ghaziabad: A 50-year-old man died while the other two, including the factory owner, was injured after a portion of the ceiling of the unit under construction collapsed in the border area of Loni Ghaziabad.
Around 7pm, Monday, two workers, Vilas and Ramdev (50), were talking to the factory owner, Lakshman Singh (40), after completing their work when the ceiling collapsed, the police said.
The locals rushed to save them and succeeded in freeing three people from the bottom of the rubble after one hour.
A police team, who also reached the place, took the injured to the GTB Hospital where Vilas died during treatment.
While Ramdev continued to be critical, Singh was said to be stable, police said.
According to the police, the factory ceiling is in a dilapidated condition, which has deteriorated further because of rain.
The workers fix it but some of the ceilings collapse on them, bury them under the rubble.
Singh, added police, has provided a rental factory about six months ago and recently took over to open his business.
Atul Sonkar, Loni’s circle officer said the police had not received formal complaints in this matter.
“Initial investigations showed that it was an accident,” he said.
In another incident, a 35-year-old woman, Rajesh, was injured after a portion of the roof of the modinage house collapsed during heavy rain.
The police said the woman and her husband worked on a farm.
Meanwhile, a car was broken on Monday after a piece of plaster fell on it from the 15th floor balcony of the building in a housing in Raj Nagar’s extension on Monday.
Other cars were broken at KW Srishti Society after a portion of the wall collapsed on three parked vehicles near a tower.
There were no victims reported in two incidents.
