New Delhi: Single Dosage Covid-19 Vaccine has shown 92% efficacy in protecting against death, whereas with two doses increasing to 98%, the center said quoting a study conducted by the Institute of Education and Medical Research (PGimer), Chandigarh , Chandigarh among Punjab police personnel.
Underlining the efficacy of the vaccine submitted in India, the government said among those who were without vaccination, around three per 1,000 people died of Covid-19, while the incidence of death was 0.25 per 1,000 among those who only received one dose and 0.05 per 1,000 of them who get both doses.
“This shows that the possibility of a serious disease or death is almost eliminated by vaccination.
There should be no doubt that the vaccine used in the country is safe and effective,” said members of the member of Niti Aayog Dr.
V K Paul.
He added that the government was making efforts to increase vaccination and reach the most remote areas to ensure maximum coverage.
