Mumbai: A FIR has been registered at the Goregaon Police Station on Friday against the former Police Commissioner of Param Singh and dismissed Inspector Police Assistant Sachin Waze for allegedly extorting cash and cellphones collectively worth Rs 11.92 lakh from construction contractors.
Four civilians have also been ordered, one, Sumit S, arrested.
This case has been transferred to the crime branch.
This is the fifth FIR against Singh, which was promoted as General Director (home keeper) earlier this year.
The complainant, Bimal Agrawal, said MediaPersons he hoped the police would offer protection for him and his family.
Incidentally, agrawal was the defendant with Singh in a case of extortion submitted by police Thane Nagar in July 2021.
Earlier in 2012, agrawal was ordered in a case by the economic violation of Mumbai Police Wing and was also arrested in 2017 by the CBI and the Directorate of Enforcement.
In his statement to the Goregaon police, Agrawal said he first came into contact with Waze in 2000-01 when he received a threat call and had registered police complaints.
Nearly a decade later, Waze visited the agrawal office to learn more about the BMC tender process as agrawal had taken a contract with BMC.
In early 2020, Waze was told by the agrawal that Singh was set to become a new police commissioner.
He lay eggs in agrawal to start a hotel business as he (Waze) will be entrusted with “work collection”.
Thus, agrawal becomes a partner in two restobars.
Shortly after that, Singh had posted as Commissioner and Waze was appointed to the crime branch.
Agrawal complaints stated Waze, after conspiring with Singh, and his aides threatened him from time to pay if he wanted to run restobars without police harassment.
Agrawal and business partners submit money to sumit on several occasions.
Singh is not available for comments.
