Levelland (Texas): An officer was killed and four others were injured on Thursday when a police deadlock in a small town of West Texas erupted in the shot.
The incident involved a man reported that it might be armed shortly after 1 noon.
Thursday on residential roads in Levelland, about 30 miles (50 kilometers) West Lubbock.

Three of the injured officers were taken to Lubbock Hospital.

Josh Bartlett from the office of Sheriff County Lubbock was taken to the Levelland Health Covenant Hospital and died of the wound, according to the Statement of the Sheriff office.
Bartlett is the commander of the Tactical Sheriff unit.

Shawn Wilson was in a critical but stable condition at the University Medical Center in Lubbock after surgery, said Police Chief Albert Garcia.
Three other officers were treated for minor injuries, and at least some had been dismissed from the hospital, he said.
Scifres Ray Sheriff Hockley County refused to identify the suspect but said he had a history of contact with the police.
He said Bartlett, the leader of the SWAT command office of the office of Sheriff County Lubbock, was a nine-year veteran from the department that had served abroad in the US Army.
