Chennai: The fresh Covid-19 case in Tamil Nadu fell to 1,668 on Friday compared to 1,702 on Thursday, although 14 districts reported a marginal increase in cases.
24 deaths added to the country registry on Friday took the calculation of death to 34,663.
At the end of the day, when the cases touched 25.97, there were 19,621 people who were still undergoing treatment for viral infections.
The last Tamil Nadu reported less than 1,700 cases on March 24.
On that day, the country reported 1636 new cases, but since then new cases continued to increase until it reached its peak in May.
“The new case tally has declined and the amount of vaccination slowly increased,” said Minister of Health MA Subramanian.
“At least 60 villages in Tamil Nadu have all adult populations with at least one dose.
Kodaikanal is one of the first tourist destinations that has 100% first dose vaccination for all adults.

On Friday, except for four districts – Coimbatore (199), Chennai (185), Erode (158) and Chengalpet (102) – new cases in all other districts less than 100.
While 16 districts reported each, seven districts report cases in one digit.
Ramanathapuram (4) reported a few cases.
The sharpest increase between Thursday and Friday was reported by Erode, where cases rose to 158 of 147, while cases in Thanjavur fell from 112 to 98 (steepest) over the same period of time.
