Mumbai: At least ten people from various African countries have been arrested with drugs worth more than RS 6 Crore in total in Mumbai in the past six months, the police said on Thursday.
In the latter case, the Azad Maidan unit of anti-narcotics cells (ANC) police arrested Umana Williams, a National Nigerian, from Jalan P D’Mello in South Mumbai during the day and allegedly seized the cocaine worth RS 33 Lakh from him.
Besides cocaine, medicines such as Charas and MDMA have been confiscated in this case, liberation issued by ANC said.
At least three accused of originating from Nigeria and one from Tanzania.
The ANC Bandra Unit arrested five offenders from African countries, the Azad Maidan unit captured four and the Ghatkopar unit captured one, the release said.
All defendants have been ordered under the drug narcotics law and psychotropic (NDPS).
