Gurgaon: Keeping Vigiles through Drones and in the presence of around 100 police, the Enforcement Wings of the City and State Department (DTCP) dred up the ilegal floor of 10 buildings and 12 stores on DLF-3’s U-block on Thursday.
According to DTCP officials, this is the first time the big action was taken against illegal buildings in the upper class licensed colony housing block.
Unauthorized construction has been a major concern for many DLF-3 residents for more than a decade now.
Other property owners in U-Block have been directed to submit their approval to eliminate structures that violate building norms on Friday, or state that they will delete them themselves.
On September 6, TOI has reported that the DTCP has identified around 1,000 buildings in three DLF-3 blocks which allegedly violated plans approved by the authorities.
The owners of these buildings, which have been built on plots intended for economically weaker parts, were found to have collected extra floors and made unauthorized development after procurement of work certificates, the DTCP report said.
Drive Thursday, which will start at 10 am, delayed for several hours due to rain.
When the demolition forces reached the U block with a drone team and the police around midday, around 300 locals gathered in that place and opposed the drive.
The police must control the crowd.
The City District Planner (Law Enforcement) Batth, who led the drive, said there were many complaints about many violations in many buildings.
“We conducted a survey and found that many property owners had illegally built floors and balconies and stairs expanded with dirty violations of the Haryana building code,” he said.
In Block S, U and V, it was found that the owner of the plot had used 100% of their territory, built six to seven floors violating the development plan and combining two or more plots to build commercial structures such as offices, shops and restaurants, he added.
He said the team was targeting 10 buildings under construction identified during the survey.
“A team consisting of 50 workers destroyed the internal wall of the illegal floor, after which they were sealed,” Batth said.
Ashish Sharma City Assistant Planner said 12 shops built illegally on housing plots were also destroyed during the trip.
“The drive will continue in Block S, U and V.
We have strict instructions from higher authorities to check illegal construction and start actions against violators,” he added.
Meanwhile, residents welcomed moving.
“We are happy that the DTCP acts against illegal construction.
But repetitive actions are needed to check the threat because it causes great discomfort to us,” said a resident.
