Gandhinagar: around 100 pilgrims from various parts of Gujarat who went to Uttarakhand for Chardham Yatra, had been stranded there after heavy rains and landslides.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel spoke to Pushkar Pushkar Uttarakhand Singh Dhami on Tuesday on Gujarati pilgrims trapped in the northern state after continuous rain there, and urged him to expand all possible assistance to visitors.
The state government also started a telephone helpline where tourists were stranded and their relatives could request help.
Among those who were trapped in Uttarakhand including a group of 18 people from Rajkot, six people from Maninagar and six young men from Thaltej at Ahmedabad.
CM Patel spoke with Dhami by telephone and urged him to provide the assistance needed to pilgrims who were stranded from Gujarat.
CM also asked officials to start contacting people who were stranded, the official release said.
Following Patel’s instructions, the State Emergency Operation Center (SeoC) issued a Helpline number – 07923251900 – to collect and share information about stranded pilgrims.
“From 80 to 100 tourists from Gujarat in Uttarakhand, six stuck with a fairly close height near the Kedarnath Temple.
However, they are not in any danger.
The others currently live in hotels in other places like Joshimath .
At present, all pilgrims are stranded safely, including six, “said Revenue Minister Rajendra Trivedi said.
One of the people stranded from Rajkot, Mahesh Sorathiya, in a video message said, “We are a group of 18 pilgrims from Rajkot who are in Chardham Yatra.
Because of bad weather, we have been stuck in a hotel in the Netala area in Gangotri Road for two days Finally.
Fortunately, we are all safe here.
We are waiting for the weather to clean so we can start our journey.
