100 poisonous wild dogs, buried in Shivamogga

By: Udaya Kumar Shivamogga: More than 100 wild dogs allegedly poisoned and buried in a village from Bhadravati Taluk in the Shivamogga District, and the police have ordered a case of gram Panchayat’s jurisdiction official in this case.
The incident was almost no week after 150 monkeys were killed and left in a village in the Hassan district, attracting the attention of the Karnataka High Court who was looking for actions against criminals.
The latest incident involving dogs took place in Rangathapura from Cambadalu-Hosur Grama Panchayat in Bhadravati Taluk, about 270 km from Bengaluru on Monday.
Acting on ownership of the villagers who felt something wrong, the Shivamogga Animal Rescue Club member visited the place on Tuesday night and removed the carcass with the help of a veterinarian and police.
The case submitted against Panchayat officials, activists filed a complaint to the police Bhadravati rural on Wednesday against GP officials, expressing doubts that some dogs might have been buried alive.
Shivamogga SP Laxmi Prasad told GP authorities who allegedly killed the dogs and buried them.
He confirmed a case was submitted against the Panchayat authorities.
He said the expert team consisting of veterinarians was conducting a place inspection and would immediately submit a report to the department.
He said there was no information about the number of dogs killed and buried.
Call it ‘cruel crime’, Prasad B from Shivamogga Animal Rescue Club said the majority of dogs might be poisoned to death.
