New Delhi: Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL), which supplies electricity to a population of more than 70 lakhs in North and Northwest Delhi, on Friday saying that he has become the first discom in the capital to meet 100% renewable purchases of compliance.
The company said in a statement saying that it has been sourced by more than 2,000 million units (Mus) of green forces from renewable sources such as sun, wind, hydro and waste to energy, and fulfilling the obligations of renewable purchases (RPO) for 2020-21.
“It’s about 25% of the total units sold to consumers by Tata Power-DDL in their area,” said the company.
“We have made adequate tie-ups to meet the RPO target in the future too,” said CEO Discom Ganesh Srinivasan, added that the company has also approached the power regulator to design mechanisms through green rates so that renewable sources are used for it.

“This initiative not only provides financial benefits for consumers by reducing the cost of purchasing power but also contributes significantly in preserving our environment,” he said.
The company said that after issuing this obligation, it has become a discom which is fully in accordance with RPO and all the obligations of RPO in the past established issued by companies during their respective financial years.
