Coimbatore: The Civil Investigation Department of Civil Investigation (CS-CID) on Saturday seized 10,500kg of rice ration which was smuggled into Kerala and arrested two people in connection with this case.
The CS-CID team has conducted a vehicle check in Thannerdandal on Saturday night after receiving a tip-off.
They stopped a truck and found 210 bags of rice, each with a weight of 50kg.
The police identified the people who were arrested as Abdul Rahman, 27, from the colony of Al Amin in South Ukkadam and S Lakshmikanth, 23, from Nehru Nagar in Pealamedu.
They have bought rice from the beneficiaries of the public distribution system and tried to smuggle it to Kerala, said a police officer .tnn
