New Delhi: Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said 1,058 km from the Metro network was under construction in 27 cities to improve urban mobility throughout the country.
He spoke after inaugurating the portion of about 289 meters between Vihar Pocket 1 and the Sanjay Trilokpuri Lake Station in the Pink Delhi Metro line through the video-conference.
DMRC has become a trailblazer in urban mobility, and a missing link in the trilokpuri part of the pink line is bridged with a little disturbance, the Minister said.
He said 721 km of metro lanes operated in 18 cities in the country today, and the network 1,058 km was being built in 27 again.
Puri praised the DMRC on running services with protocols in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic, and said that in the pre-covid period, the buildup was around 65 lakh per day, and the hope was to reclaim gradually while ensuring people’s comfort and safety.
