Chennai: Three stone inscriptions and two basic statues belonging to the 10th century have been found in Waterbodies in and around the Thesur village in the Tiruvannamalai district.
The inscription emphasizes the management of water and basic statues describing the ancient water use system.
The stone sheet and the statue belonged to the different period of the 10th century.
“Stone inscriptions highlight the importance of water irrigation systems.
This also emphasizes the importance of creating a water body and maintaining them properly,” said Secretary of Tiruvannamalai Center Center for History Research S Balamurugan.
This inscription was found during the renovation of waterbodies.
The basic statue and writing found in Periya Eri (big tank) in Desur is unique.
The folding description was found at the base of the base clearly describing an ancient irrigation system.
The stone slab has seven lines in early tamil letters and it’s incomplete.
Sluice gate and a rectangular water tank and the water gate used to adjust the water carved to distinguish its features.
“We have never found a picture description like this in this region on the irrigation system,” he added.
They belonged to 22 years of Raja Kannara Devan.
The second basic statue found around it has a statue like Ashok Chakra with 24 fingers.
