Panaji: Former Congressman and TMC Joseph Sequeira on Tuesday joined BJP.
He is likely to be a BJP candidate against Congress’ Michael Lobo in the Calangute constituency.
Speaking of his former Congress MLA and TMC official Agnelo Fernandes and TMC candidates Anthony Menezes, said Sequeira, “they both will join BJP, but will take time.
They are my friends, they will come and support me.
Fernandes can join or Expand support to us, but he is with us.
“Former Sarpanch Calangute, Sequeira, was one of several people who openly supported the lobo for the 2012 Assembly to make him selected.
He joined BJP in front of the Chairman of the Pramod Sawant Minister, State President of BJP Sadanand Shet Tanaavade and Transportation Minister Mauvin Godinho, among others.
Sequeira said that he left TMC because after traveling around a few houses in Calangute to campaign, he did not see the party’s prospect.
He also said that when they left Congress, they felt that TMC was the only choice, which was why they joined TMC.
Sawant said that Sequeira had taken the right step for the benefit of Goa and Calangute.
Hitting Lobo, Sawant said that Lobo left BJP because he put his wife first.
“For him, his wife was the first and not the Calangute people.
He just thought that his wife had to be MLA.
Siolim people wise.
They have self-esteem and they will give him lessons, I am also sure that the Calangute people will give him a lesson.
“Meanwhile, BJP has delayed a list of both with other days due to lack of consensus for several seats.
