Mangaluru: The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has saved 11 fishermen who are stranded at sea, 35 miles of sea from the beach, because of strong winds and waves of waves, from IFB Sagar Samrat fishing boats, from the Port Malpe.
The fishing boat lost propulsion due to engine failure in rough weather conditions, and asked Transit trading vessels, which in turn requested the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (MRCC), Mumbai, for assistance.
Excavated S B Venkatesh, Commander, Coast Guard, Karnataka, stated that the ICG Rajdoot boat sailed from New Mangalore for search and rescue operations, and arrived at the location of the ship stranded, at 11pm on Tuesday.
Considering bad weather and various boat complications, including battery drainage and thinning quota and fresh water, ICGS Rajdoot takes IFB below, along with 11 fishermen in good health, at 12:20 a.m.
on Wednesday.
The ship handed over the ship for IFB Dhanishka-I at 5:20 a.m., arranged by the Fisheries Authority, about five marine miles from Malpe Beach.
After that, the ICG ship continued with patrols in the area as directed.
Furthermore, electronic supervision in the area was maintained, through the coastal supervision network, to the shepherd fishing vessel in the area to a safer location, and the usual weather warning advisor was being transmitted.
