Nagpur / Amravati: The family sightseeing becomes tragic after a ship has turned upside down on the Wardha River close to Zunjun Waterfall and Mahadev Temple in Tri-Junction from three Amravati District, Wardha and Nagpur on Tuesday killing 11 people including four minors, five Women and two gents.
Three bodies have been captured so far.
The victims have been identified as Narayanrao Matare (45), Ashwini Khandale (25), Vrushali Waghmare (19), Atulrao Wagharare (25), Vanshika Shivankar (2), Nisha Matare (22), Kiran Khandale (25), Aditi Khandale ( 25), Aditi Khandale (13), Mohini Khandale (11), Piyush MARAKE (8) and Poonam Shivankar (26).
Matares from Wadgaon in the Tehsil’s Day in Amravati has their relatives visiting them from various districts, such as Nagpur and Wardha, to attend the 10th ritual of Narayanrao’s nephew who died this month.
Shyam Matare and Rajkumar Uikey are two survivors of episodes who have managed to swim for safety even though there is a lower current of the Wardha River which flows quickly because of the rain that is unrelenting for the past few days.
Narayanrao’s body, Vanshika and Kiran have been fishing so far.
The body of Poonam Vanshika’s mother is one that has not been restored.
Search operations with state disaster response styles (SDRF) and national disaster response styles (NDRF) and local divers will continue on Wednesday.
Narayanrao, who lost his daughter Kiran and Nisha, had offered a ride for family members and relatives from his village Gadegaon to Zungh.
Senior Inspector MH Sarkate from the police station Benoda said the boat could be safely used for four or five people.
“It was a density on a small boat that led to the tragedy.
The river also flowed quickly with a steady current due to heavy rain,” he said.
Local sources declared the family of Marake and their relatives clicking on a photo and selfie on the ship before being reversed.
“The boat is somewhere on the river where the surface is calm but the water has a current underneath because of the surrounding waterfall,” he said.
Residents from the villages around Zunj, such as Hatinjna, were warned by survivors who in turn told the police.
