Bhubaneswar: Eleven more micro detention zones made by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday as Covid spread to more fields and housing complexes.
At present, the city has 60 active micro detention zones.
The Civic Body brought the Hostel Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (Ximb) under detention after 30 students were tested positive for Covid.
An apartment in Gadakana was also brought based on detention while one apartment each in Patia and Hanspal was also declared as a micro detention zone.
In the southwest zone, two flats in two apartments in Kalinga Nagar near Ghatikia, Khandagiri, Pokhariput, Jagamara and Surya Nagar have been declared as a micro detention zone.
Micro detention has been made because some cases are reported from the housing complex and hostel.
They have been infected have been asked to remain in isolation.
Ximb students, who have come into contact, will undergo a Covid test, said Deputy Commissioner BMC Suvendu Sahu.
The number of active cases in the city rose to 2,363 with the addition of 581 cases on Saturday.
In a week, city active infections rose 1,600 taking the number of cumulative infections to 1,26,073.
Considering the speed of the spread of rapid infection in Bhubaneswar, BMC on Saturday signed an agreement with KIMS and Hitech Hospital to increase the strength of the bed.
At present, 1,699 hospital beds in four designated Covid hospitals and 100 beds in the Covid Care Center are ready.
