Vadodara: The days after a prominent city-based lung, Dr.
Sonia Dalal, accused a leading private hospital of her patients for Covid-19 treatment, around 11 more patients have approached the branch of crime with similar complaints against hospitals.
“About 11 people have approached us in the past few days and claimed that the hospital was charged a massive cost for covid care.
We have taken their application and investigating complaints.
We expect more complaints like this,” said a crime branch official.
Senior police officials said that Dalal has formed a group, which patients, who felt that they were excessively billed for Covid treatment, could approach and provide complaints.
“Even though we are investigating the application, it becomes rather difficult to prove the charges of hospital management, in his defense, saying that they have told patients about the cost well,” the police said.
However, the branch of the crime, has asked the hospital, against who dalal filed a complaint, to provide all bills and documents besides taking a statement from the hospital management.
Dalal has approached the police a few days ago accusing the hospital imposing excessive fees from covid patients.
He accused that the hospital collected massive costs in his name but did not pay the amount of him.
However, hospital management has denied all the accusations and said that one doctor could not manage Covid-19 in each multi-specialties hospital.
Management said that there were five doctors and teams consisting of 100-150 medical officers who managed Covid-19 patients.
Management claims that the accusation is in accordance with the notification and classification of Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) rooms as well as the Civic body guide.
