Nagpur / Amravati: The family trip becomes tragic after a reverse boat on the Wardha River, close to Zunj waterfall and Mahadev Temple, in the Tri-Junction of Amravati, Wardha and Nagpur on Tuesday killed 11 people, including four minors, five women and two men.
Three bodies have been captured so far.
Shyam Matare and Rajkumar Uikey are the only survivors in the incident.
They managed to swim for safety despite a strong current of the Wardha River which flowed due to rain continuously in the region for the past few days.
Victims have been identified as Narayanrao Marrake (45), Ashwini Khandale (19), Vrushali Waghmare (19), Vrushali Waghmare (19), Atulrao Wagharare (25), Vanshika Shivankar (2), Nisha Marrake (22), Kiran Khandale (25 ), Aditi Khandale (13), Mohini Khandale (11), Piyush Matare (8) and Poonam Shivankar (26).
Matares, from Wadgaon in the Tehsil’s vanic from Amravati, has several relatives who visited them from various districts, to attend the 10th day ritual Narayanrao’s nephew, who had died earlier this month.
Narayanrao’s body, Vanshika and Kiran have been fishing so far.
The search for operations by the State Disaster Response (SDRF), Force Response National Disaster (NDRF) and local divers will continue on Wednesday.
Narayanrao, who lost his daughter Kiran and Nisha, had offered a ride to family members and relatives of his village Gadegaon.
To Zunj.senior Inspector MH Sarkate from the police station Benoda said the boat could be used safely for four or five.
“Density on a small boat causes tragedy.
The river also flows quickly with a stable current due to heavy rain,” he said.
Cocal sources say the family of Marake and their relatives click on photos and selfies on the ship before it turns upside down.
“The boat is somewhere on the river where the surface is calm but the water has the current underneath because of the surrounding waterfall,” the source said the victim survived, and the police were warned
