12 Flyovers to be closed for traffic at Sankranti Makar

Nagpur: Traffic Police Nagpur will close 12 flyovers for vehicle movements from 6am to 6pm on Friday due to Sankranti Makar.
“The decision was taken to prevent an accident because it was spoiled,” said DCP (traffic) Awad’s nest.
Adiwasi Gowari Flyover, Sakkardara Flyover, Golibar-Pachpaoli Rob, Mangalwari Rob, Dahi Bazaar Rob, Mehdibagh Rob, Manas Chowk to Jaistambh Square Flyover, Mankapur Flyover, Awareness of Flyover and Wardha Road Double-Decker Flyover will be closed for traffic.
Every year at Sankranti Makar, there are reports of two-wheeled riders who are injured because they hang on the road.
Awad said that often tangled strings even caused an accident on the road in many parts of the city.
Also, congestion was witnessed because of flying kites and children who ran to catch kites in the middle of the road.
To prevent accidents, traffic police from 10 zones have initiated a boost to eliminate strings hanging from electricity, street lights and other poles along the way.
In a press statement, the Nagpur Party AAM AADMI (AAP) stated that a large number of kites were flown in the city at Sankan Tracks every year and many people face the risk of meeting with nylon strings.
“Many people have also lost their lives during celebrations, and a large number of birds and animals are also affected.
Overall, the nylon string is dangerous and prohibited by the government, but many young people still use threads to fly their kites,” read the statement.
AAP activist under the leadership of the treasurer of the Jagjit Singh and the coordinator of Vidarbha Devendra Wankhade launched a conscious campaign in the box throughout the city to create awareness about the dangers of nylon string or spoiled.
In nagpur north, this campaign was held at 15 boxes, in the southern nagpur of six boxes, Western Nagpur 10 boxes and eastern nagpur.
Nitin Shimle Activists, who have created awareness about non-use of spoiled nylon in wholesale kite markets in the city of Jun Shukruwari, also look attractive to citizens not to use Nylon Manja.
“Not only hurting birds but many residents lose their lives because of the nylon string used by leaflets.
Recently, two people from South Nagpur died of spoiled,” he said.
To capture the attention of buyers who visit wholesale kite markets, Shimles also feature several posters and birds.
