Mumbai: At least 12 workers were killed after the vehicle taught them upside down in the Buldhana Maharashtra district on Friday.
The accident took place near Dusarbid Village at Tadegaon Phata at Sindkhedraja-Mehkar Road around 12 noon.
The workers were being taken for work at the Nagpur-Mumbai Project Samruddhi Expressway, an official said.
A total of 16 workers traveled in vehicles that also carry steel for highway projects, he said.
“The vehicle was speeding and upside down because of a large hole on the road.
At least 12 workers were killed and other people suffered injuries,” said the Buldhana supervisor from Arvind Chavria.
After getting information about it, the Kingaon King police station personnel rushed to see the place and started the rescue operation, he said.
While some who were injured were taken to the state-run hospital in the neighboring District, others were treated at Sindhkhedraja Hospital, the official said.
According to him, most of these workers come from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
