Jaipur: If the average rainfall does not increase on September 15, then Jaipur, Ajmer and Tonk can face cutting water supply.
According to officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), the water supply will be cut by 15% in Jaipur and Tonk, and 10% in Ajmer if rain does not occur in five days.
PHP ACS Sudhansh Pant made a decision after holding a review meeting with department officials on Friday.
The state has received low rainfall and the bisalpur dam is only 32.30%.
This can create a big crisis.
The additional Chief Engineer Manish Beniwal said that the department was looking for alternatives.
“We have cut 5% of the water supply in Jaipur and Tonk.
If on September 15, rainfall does not occur, then we will further cut 10% water supply in the city and 10% in Ajmer.
We are fully prepared for any crisis and Will take appropriate action.
“267 Dams in the empty state of the country are in situations such as drought.
At present, of 727 dams in Rajasthan, 267 are empty, 313 full of full and 125 full.
All joint dams have the capacity to store 12,626 million cubic meters of water in the state.
But the total water level was 59.96% on September 10, which was lower than the level on September 3, 2020 I.e.
71.10%.
Phed recently announced the water train for the Pali district at the end of September because the surface of the water in the Jaya Dam was only 10 feet due to low rainfall.
Along with the main cities, Jawai Dam supplies water to hundreds of villages in Pali District and the situation will be difficult for people in the coming days.
