Nagpur: After tracing them from different sources, Cyber cells on Friday handed 125 cellphones to their owners.
Completion of duties takes almost a year.
Those who regain their calls, cumulatively worth Rs 37.5 lakh, including senior citizens, students and home makers.
In a program held at Alankar Hall at the Police Headquarters, Amitesh Kumar City Police Chief, who handed over several cellphones, said Cyber cells had the potential to face the challenges of increasing online criminal activities.
“We have the capacity of prevention and detection with a proven track record of some important cases and gang remedies such as Nigeria from Delhi,” Kumar said, warning citizens by sharing passwords and OTPS.
CPT is accompanied by additional Sunil Phuori CPS, Navinchandra Reddy, DCP Vivek Masaiial and Senior Pi Ashok Bagul from the Cyber Police Station.
“While cyber cells are nodal agents, units in each police station can also proactively overcome people’s complaints,” he said.
Recordings of traces of people from whom the missing cellphones are traced to be verified and the action will be taken if they are.
Found involved in an activity that violated the law.
“The police will track people with a dubious trace record of dealing with stolen phones and acting accordingly,” he said.
In February, Cyber cells have returned 111 cellphones to the owner.
