Chennai: Police Commissioner Shankar Jiwal on Sunday led the function held to rehabilitate 127 poor people to their home countries.
So far, more than 500 people have been sent to their home countries in the past three months.
Under the rehabilitation scheme, the Helpline number 1091, 1098, 1253 and 100 is available for the general public if they want to report about the poor.
These numbers are integrated and calls related to the identification of people left together in the WhatsApp group consisting of people from various government and non-government institutions, a senior official said.
The police will identify people left behind and in a hurry to the nearest hospital if medical assistance is needed.
After the right medical treatment, an effort will be made to reunite the person with relatives or his family.
Details of missing people will be uploaded on social media and facetagr application for faster identification.
