12k police to be recruited in Bihar every year, said DGP

Patna: Director General of Police (DGP) Sanjeev Kumar Singhal on Thursday said the police population ratio in Bihar would increase to the national average level in the coming years.
In accordance with the information on the Ministry of Home Affairs website, the actual police population ratio at the national level was 155.78 police personnel per lakh population on January 1, 2020.
The Ratio of Bihar was the poorest in this country – 76.2 police personnel per population lakh.
This data was also presented at Rajya Sabha earlier this year by MHA against unsuccessful questions.
More than 2 Lakh personnel will be asked to be in the state police to reach the national average.
DGP, which has reached Shaheed Sthal on the BSAP-5 campus to pay tribute to Martyred police personnel on the occasion of the police commemoration, told Mediapésons, “the state of the state police has increased to 1.42 lakh.

“Singhal said the state government also gave its nod to increase the power of the police to reach the national average.
“We aim to make more than 12,000 recruitment every year to achieve the strength of the first 1.42 lakh sanction.
The power of existing sanctions will be achieved in the next two to three years.
After that, sustainable recruitment will be carried out,” he added.
DGP said 12,955 police were undergoing training and active processes to recruit 2,277 sub-inspectors and other officers.
Other senior IPS officers, including Adgs Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Sushil Mansingh Khopde and Paras Nath also paid them to the Martyred police officer.
The state has lost 35 police personnel in the past year, including seven who were killed in the action and 28 who surrendered to Covid while carrying out the task.
