CHENNAI: As many as 13 passengers have been fined for not wearing a mask at metro stations and in trains in four days since train services resumed on June 21.
In a release, CMRL said it has deployed an exclusive squad to ensure that all passengers wear masks properly and follow the safety measures.
A penalty of Rs 200 is being imposed on passengers if caught not wearing masks.
“So far , 13 passengers have been levied penalty from June 21 to 24,” it said.
At present, metro trains are operated with 50% capacity from 6.30am to 9pm with five minutes frequency during peak hours and 10 minute frequency during non-peak hours during the weekdays.
On Sundays and public holidays, CMRL will operate trains from 7am to 9pm for every 10 minutes without peak hour services.
