Patna: Minister of Transportation State Sheela Kumari on Thursday said road safety is a sensitive problem and all departments must try together to reduce road accidents.
At the meeting review of the road safety board Bihar here, he said several steps were taken and the action plan was made to avoid road accidents in the state.
“These steps resulted in a sharp decline in accidents and deaths in the state,” added the minister.
Secretary of the State Transportation Department Sanjay Kumar Agrawal said the effort was carried out to reduce road accidents in the state.
“There was a 13.7% decrease in a road accident by 2020 when compared to the data of 2019.
Also, there had been a reduction in 7% in the deaths of accidents on the road,” he said, adding NHAI must install signage related to the speed limit and other safety aspects in Highway.
State Transport Commissioner Seema Tripathi highlights work carried out by the Bihar Road Safety Council in 2020-2021 and presented an action plan for 2022.
