Kanpur: At least 13 city bus conductors were suspended, while 14 drivers were removed with direct effects after they were found to violate Covid-19 safety norms in the city on Thursday.
Division Commissioner Raj Shekhar and six of his subordinates in Garb public passengers on Thursday took a surprising trip on the city bus on various routes to check the land reality of Covid guidelines and the status of the city bus transportation service.

“It was found that on both buses, the driver and conductor did not wear a mask, besides the prescribed uniform.
It was also observed that more than half of the passengers without a mask,” Commissioner said.
He further said that even no first aid boxes on the bus and LED display boards also did not work.
“The general maintenance of the bus is in a sad state.
In one case, it was found that the conductor took money for tickets, but did not issue a ticket to the passenger,” the official said, and added, “it was also observed that half of the passengers did not wear masks and conductors too Didn’t tell them to do it.
“Suspension of all 13 conductors, found do not wear uniforms and masks that are prescribed, ordered with direct effects.
Orders to delete all 14 drivers (personal service provider drivers) have also been made with direct effects.
A senior district official said that the department’s investigation against all members of the Enforcement / Bus inspection team had been ordered for bad negligence and law enforcement.
