Karachi: A total of 13 people were killed and several others suffered injuries in a grenade attack in Karachi, Pakistan on Saturday.
The attack took place near the Mawach Mawach Baldia area around 9:30 a.m., Geo News reported.
Using the remnants found from the explosion site, the local police determined that the grenade was used in the attack.
“We cannot concretely say who is behind the attack.
It is probably a family dispute, which we try to make sure, or maybe it is an act of terrorism.
But unless we have strong evidence, we cannot provide the final verdict about this.
It will be too early to say anything at this stage, “said Imran Yaqoob, Inspector General of Police additional.
A senior department of counter-terrorism (CTD) officials, King Umer Khattab, said that the initial investigation showed that it was a grenade attack.
He said that the grenade exploded before it could touch the floor of the vehicle, Dawn reported.
He said that the initial investigation revealed that the attackers were on a motorcycle.
Additional police surgeon Dr.
Qarar Abbasi said that 10 bodies had been taken to the civil hospital Dr.
Ruth Pfau.
Six women and four children are among the victims.
Abbasi said that the other 10, which was injured in the incident, had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Murad Ali Shah, Chair of the Sindh Minister has directed the district police and administration to transport people who were injured to the nearest hospital.
He also revealed deep sadness for the incident.
