13 more cases of Zika virus detected in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Zika Virus has been confirmed at 13 more people in the state.
With the total number of cases detected in the state has increased to 14.
After more cases reported, it has been decided to regulate testing facilities in three laboratories in the state.
All 14 cases have been reported from Thiruvananthapuram.
Among 13 these are health workers.
Everything lives in one place near a private hospital where they work.
Health forces have examined their place of fixed and adequate preventative measures have been taken to prevent the spread of further viruses in the area.
More samples have been collected from this area and the test results are waiting.
The district health administration also prepares a list of infected people’s contacts to test their samples too.
“Since mosquitoes that spread the journey of this disease in a limited area, the spread of disease will be limited to very small space.
Therefore the steps have been taken to prevent the spread to other regions.
All contacts from these people are tracked,” said the District Medical Officer Dr.
Shinu K S.
Drive Special Mosquito Eradication has begun in an area where pregnant women, who were tested positively before, had lived.
The woman has given birth to a baby on July 7 and both are stable now, said DMO.
Meanwhile, it has been decided to send samples of all suspected cases for testing to NIV, Pune, until the testing facilities are ready here.
The Ministry of Health has issued an advisor to all hospitals that if pregnant women (up to five months) are developing symptoms of dengue or chikungunya fever, they must be tested for the Zika virus too.
Country warnings have been stated after detecting more cases in state capital.
Public health laboratories in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode will have testing facilities.
It has also been decided to complete all government medical college hospitals in the state with testing facilities.
All private hospitals in the state were also asked to report to the State Health Department if they detected the case of the Zika virus.
