Salem: A total of 13 students of the Salem Government Nursing College have been tested positively Covid-19.
Universities opened on Monday following the direction of the government.
The third year student in charge of the Salem Mohan government Kumaramangalam Medical College and the hospital fell with a fever on Tuesday.
The next test revealed that he was infected with a virus, said Valli Sathyamoorthi, Dean of Medical College.
Immediately on Wednesday, the other third year students were tested for viruses and isolated.
“We have collected swab and blood samples from 19 students, and from them 10 were tested positive for infection on Thursday.
Also, the first two students were tested positive for Covid,” Dean said.
All 176 students studying at nursing colleges were tested for viruses in the last two days.
Infected students were treated in the Covid Ward in the Hospital.
“I direct breastfeeding students to wear facial masks and clean their hands with sanitisers often along with maintaining social distance in public places,” Dean said.
