13 Personal Plantation to Take Over: Forest Min

Thiruvananthapuram: Forest Minister A K Saseendran told the Assembly on Friday that the government planned to take over 13 private plantations that limited state forest.
The plantation will be taken over after paying fair compensation to individual owners.
The plantation taken over will be converted into natural forests.
Preliminary work has begun to fulfill the plan.
In the first phase, 13 plantations will be taken over and the more similar takeover will follow, he told the house.
The minister said that on time revisions will be made in compensation given to farmers for attacks and attacks on wild animals on their agricultural land.
In 2011, the Ministry of Agriculture, according to the United States Union Guidelines, had revised the amount of compensation.
The minister said that financial constraints were the main reason for delay in providing compensation for qualified.
Water Resources Minister Rosy Agustine told the assembly that his department had begun preliminary work to remove sand and sediments from the river to facilitate the flow of water-free water.
Work will be done after the study needed and cooperating with other departments, he said.
