Ahmedabad: More than 13 years after 20 bomb blasts have Ahmedabad’s seizures in terror, the special court here on Tuesday held 49 guilty and released 28 others.
The coordinated terror attack in the city on the night of July 26, 2008, has killed 56 people and injured 246.
The case also included planting 29 bombs in the letter, which did not explode and found a few days later.
On Wednesday, the court will decide quantum punishment for prisoners and compensation for the victims.
The synchronized bomb blast that ripped the city through a span of 90 minutes having a surprised nation because it was seen that the upgrade terror strike was preceded by low intensity explosions throughout India in Varanasi, Jaipur and Bengaluru.
Police Gujarat for solving this case in a 20-day record with a major breakthrough that came as 15 telephone numbers, which was only used on July 26 and never after, leading to the massive police hunt accused of 11 states in India including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Uttar Pradesh.
Special Judge A R Patel read the operative part of the 6,752 page assessment in a video conference in 6 minutes.
Overall, 78 people have been tried.

The court provided forgiveness to someone accused, Aijaz Saiyed, who had changed approval.
Two people were accused of conspiracies and sent threat letters and then claimed responsibility for terror attacks, Mubin Shaikh and Mansur Pirbhoy, had been released.
Among the 49 people who were sentenced to the former leader of the Islamic Student Movement (Simi), Safdar Nagori, and his colleagues.
