Coimbatore: The Periyanaickenpalayam authorities retrieved 132 sachets of spirits out of a vehicle that met an injury to the Kovilpalayam -Thudiyalur Road close Idikarai on Thursday.Car motorist Shankar, that had been under the sway of alcohol, knocked a two-wheeler coming in the opposite direction, hammering Subramaniam, 61 and also Sampathkumar, 45, police sources said.
“Idikarai villagers thrashed Shankar and ruined the vehicle.
Shankar, who suffered injuries in his mind, has been admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
A police team who inspected the vehicle, discovered 132 spirits sachets.
Preliminary inquiry demonstrated that Shankar had been smuggling the spirits,” a police officer said.
