136 more Covid deaths in Kerala, 12,000 new cases

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Covid toll in the state reached 12,582 after 136 more fatalities were confirmed on Thursday.
Meanwhile, 12,078 new cases were reported from 1,16,507 samples tested in 24 hours.
There were 11,469 recoveries on the day leaving 99,859 persons under treatment for Covid-19.
The state’s Test Positivity Rate (TPR) was10.37%.
At least 313 local bodies in the state have TPR below 8% while it was between 8 and 16 in 545 regions.
In 152 local bodies, the TPR was in the 16-24% range and it was over24% in 24 local bodies.
Among the new cases, 11,250 persons were infected through local spread while the sources of infection remain unknown in 657 others and 94 recent arrivals in the state were also confirmed with the virus.
Kannur had 21 out of the 77 fresh cases among healthcare workers in the state while Kasaragod had 13 and Ernakulam, ten.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases, 1,461 followed by Kollam, 1,325, Malappuram, 1,287, Thiruvananthapuram, 1,248, Kozhikode, 1,061, Thrissur,1,025, Palakkad, 990, Alappuzha, 766, Kannur, 696, Kottayam, 594, Kasaragod, 439, Pathanamthitta, 525, Wayanad, 352, and Idukki, 309.
Ernakulam also had the highest number of cases (1,419) through local transmission followed by Kollam, 1,319.
Most recoveries on the day were reported from Ernakulam (2,006) followed by Thiruvananthapuram, 1,718.
So far 27,41,436 persons have recovered from Covid-19 in the state.
There are 4,06,706 persons under observation in the state, of whom 3,80,559 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 26,147 are in isolation at hospitals.
