Thiruvananthapuram: Cases of the Zika virus in Kerala rose to 14 on Friday with the National Institute of Virology (NIV) which confirmed 13 more cases.

Of the 19 samples sent to the Institute, 13 was found positive for Zika, according to the state government.
Symptoms are similar to dengue fever and they include fever, rash and joint pain.
State Health Minister Veena George said the action plan was compiled to control the spread of Zika.
Pregnant women must be tested themselves if they have fever, said Minister at the District Medical Officer Meeting (DMOS).
