14 months, Goa Startups looked at Mirage funding

PANAJI: Told by the vision of the startup destination and convincing quick incentives to innovate in Goa, startup in the country now runs from the pillar to send support from the state government.
Many certified startups that seek financial assistance from the country have been waiting for more than 14 months for what is promised.
Since the launch of the Goa Startup Policy – 2017, the state government has repeatedly promised to make Goa one of the 25 startup goals in Asia.
Startup said that the steps of the Pramod Sawant government had headed for the opposite direction.
They are certified by Startup Promotion Cell (SPC) with a valid startup certificate number, have begun to improve operations.
When the Covid-19 pandemic has hurt startup, the delay in disbursing funds has added to their financial misery.
“My company is registered with SPC.
Our application for funding is waiting since the last 14 months.
Tranche funding the second seed we are waiting since April 2020 and now, we have costs incurred to be borne under the third stage and have run out of funds,” said Mitra Managing In Uzorba Technologies, Vincent Toscano.
While the Department of Information and Technology has certified at least 110 startups, disbursed funds to them slow.
The state-powered committee was scheduled to meet in May, but the meeting was canceled because of the second Covid-19 wave.
Pandemic Covid-19 offers Brizz Medical, a startup that provides home delivery of drugs from local pharmacies, ideal opportunities to improve.
Founded by Isha Kher together with her father Sunil, Brizz Medical has planned to expand its delivery service to other parts of Goa but a lack of funds to promote the stalled startup.
“The funds will help or the country can give us marketing assistance.
Even a little marketing will be very helpful,” Isha Managing Director said.
His father said Brizz Medical was present in four to five cities in Goa, but apart from Panaji and Mapusa, had not strengthened his presence in other cities.
Startup has applied for seed funding, internet replacement and salary incentives, but until the high-powered committee meets to approve disbursement, the IT department cannot do much.
IT Director Ankita Anand said the government planned to hold a meeting of high-powered committees in the first week of August to clean all delayed incentives.
