There were 46 courtrooms that were being built in Saket, 44 in Karkardoom and 54 in Tis Hazari with an estimated cost of RS 178 Crore.
After observing additional courtroom requirements, along with the recruitment of judicial officers to fill vacancies for approved forces, the Delhi government in 2019 began the construction of the courtroom in Tis Hazari, Saket and Karkardooma.
Initially, the plan was to make additional courtroom on the land allocated by Delhi development authorities and land offices & development, but adhering to the timeline set by Delhi High Court would not be possible.
The Public Works Department then decided to build a courtroom in the complex.
The job was supposed to be completed in March 2020, but the pandemic delayed progress.
“Even though the work developed on three sites, the lack of labor because the pandemic had delayed construction.
We hope to have a courtroom ready in March,” said a senior PWD official who oversees the project.
In Karkardoom, it worked until the third floor was finished.
At present, work on internal walls, power lines, fire extinguisher, paintings, etc.
are being carried out.
The work created a jury, a personal assistant room and Alhmad’s room was also ongoing.
In Saket, casting slabs on the first and second floor has been completed.
Fabrication and erection of beams and columns from the third floor to the fifth active.
At Tis Hazari, the beam has been set on the second and third floor and some construction is being carried out on the first floor.
