Bengaluru: The government on Wednesday said nearly 25% of the target population of adolescents in the age group 15-17 years has been inoculated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
The target population for drive vaccination, which began on Monday, an estimated 31.7 lakh children, most of whom are school students.
Data from the State Health Department showed under eight lakh children given the first dose on Tuesday night.
Health Minister K Sudhakar said the government hopes to complete the firstose vaccination drive for this population segment in the next 10 days.
The second dose will be given after 28 days.
The highest percentage of the managed dose was recorded in Chamarajanagar Regency with 42% (19,322 of 45,474 children) and the lowest coverage was reported in Gadag Regency, where only 10% (5,578 from 55 880) took a shot.
Other top districts in terms of the percentage of coverage are Uttar Kannada (40%), Bagalkot (40%), Bustomavi (36%) and Ballari (36%).
Shivamogga (17%), Kalaburagi (16%), Ramanagara (16%) is at the bottom of the table.
While Bangalore Urban has visited 25% of its target population (14,800 of 60,065), Bangalore Rural has reached 20% (9,869 of 48,865).
In boundary BBMP, 11% was vaccinated (48,203 from 4,42,786).
