Hyderabad: More than 15 days after the physical class continued in the state, the percentage of attendance at the school across Telangana is still limited to 42%.
On Thursday, 42.21% of students attended classes, while attending on Wednesday was 41.58%.
On September 13 and 14, the percentage was even lower – 37.85% and 39.67%.
Parents and teachers connect this with fear of Covid-19 while adding how many children also go down with viral fever, typhoid, dengue fever, among other diseases.
Since September 1, more than 50 students have tested positive Covid-19.
“When most private employees, especially those from the IT industry, are still working from home, how do schools or officials expect us to send children to school at this stage? Many go down with symptoms such as Covid and positive cases reported from school.
I still feel It’s safe for my children to attend the physical class, “Sai Prasad said, a private employee, whose son was in 7th grade.
Another old man, Srujana K, whose children were in grade 8 and 6th grade, said that he did not will send them to this academic year school.
“When many children go down with dengue, typhoid, covid-19 fever etc., the risk of contracting my son will be much higher if they go to school.
We will continue with online education this year,” he added.
The teacher confirms that many students are still away from the school quoting health reasons.
“Even 50% of students attend physical classes.
Even among those who attend, many are irregular because they come down with fever or experience symptoms such as fever,” Prashanthi S, a private teacher.
There were more than 53.34 lakh students studying at 37,769 schools in Telangana.
From them, around 31.96 lakh were registered in private schools while the rest were in a government school.
