Chennai: Fresh Covid-19 cases rose slightly to 1,568 on Friday compared to 1,562 on Thursday and 1.509 on Wednesday.
Fifteen districts including Coimbatore, Namakkal, Cuddalore and Villupuram reported an increase in new cases in the last 24 hours.
Coimbatore, who reported most of the new cases and the sharpest increase in the last 24 hours, was also the only district to report more than 200 new cases.
The Western District reported 239 cases on Friday compared to 215 cases reported on Thursday.
During the same period as new cases rose to 62 of 47 in Namakkal and 55 of 43 in Cuddalore.
Chennai recorded the highest number of cases after coimbatore, although cases in the district were dipped in 162 of 166 on Thursday.
Erode (125) and Thanjavur (108) are two other districts to report more than 100 cases.
Tirupur has 98 new cases, increasing from 90 cases on Thursday.
However, 22 districts in this country reported less than 25 cases each and between these – Dindigul (9), Theni (9), Tirupathur (7), Screens (6), Tenkasi (3) and Virudhunagar (3) and VIUDHUNAGAR (3) and VRIDHUNAGAR (3)) report cases in one digit.
Meanwhile, 19 deaths recorded on Friday took the dead to 34,980 and the state reported the calculation of the cumulative case of 26.19 lakh.
At the end of the day, after the use of 1,657 patients, there were 16,370 people who were still undergoing treatment for viral infections.
Of the 19 deaths, four were reported in Tiruvallur, three in Coimbatore, two in Tiruvannamalai, one in 10 districts.
The country vaccinated 5.5 lakh people on Friday, took a dose of tally in the country to 3.2 crores.
Meanwhile, 21.71 Lakh people were vaccinated at the Privte Hospital since May 1.
