Patna: The state government will increase the infrastructure at the Patliputra Interstate Bus Terminal (ISBT) at Mailza Pahadi in Road Patna-style to accommodate more buses in the future.
About 15 hectares of land will be obtained on the south, north and west side terminal bus to improve the parking space and increase other facilities.
District administration has submitted a report to the Urban and Housing Development Department, providing detailed information, including the nature of the soil and its feasibility.
“The process of land acquisition tends to begin after the department approves the proposal and provides funds for the same thing,” said Pramod Kumar land procurement officer.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh said some land will be obtained from the north and west side of ISBT and the main part of the land from the south side of the terminal to Pine Badshahi.
“At present, ISBT only has nine hectares of land for vehicle parking, about 10 hectares for four blocks and six hectares for roads, drainage channels, green belts and other facilities,” he said.
“The land to be obtained is largely used as a parking lot and other facilities such as workshops, cleaning and bus services, CNG fuel stations and filling points for electric buses.
Seeing the future, there is a need for additional space to accommodate more buses.
Buses from Bus Stand BankiPore near Gandhi Maidan will also shift to ISBT, “said Singh.
Advanced bus terminal, developed with RS 300 Crore expenditure, has four multi-floor blocks for travel facilities and commercial activities.
At present, more than 360 buses from seven districts – styles, Nalanda, Nawada, Jamui, Sheikhpura, Lakhisarai and Jehanabad – have operated per day from ISBT.
The district authorities have planned to shift all buses from Mithapur to Patliputra Isbt.
According to Urban Bihar Infrastructure Corporate Officials, ISBT can handle up to 3,000 buses every day.
“After the acquisition of 15 hectares of land, the capacity will increase to 7,000 buses per day,” added the official.
DM says all buses from Mithapur will shift to ISBT at the end of this month.
“One more gate in ISBT will be ready for a week.
With this, there will be a separate gate to enter and the vehicle’s exit,” Singh said.
