16 lakh vaccine shots to be given in July

NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: From July 1, Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad will inoculate 8 lakh people each through the month.
This means, over 27,000 residents would be vaccinated every day in each district.
“From a daily average of 9,000, we have increased the figure to 17,000-18,000 doses daily in June.
By July, the number will be 27,000.
We are making arrangements for several special camps throughout the month of July,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer, Gautam Budh Nagar.
The district has been divided into three blocks for this drive.
Inoculation sessions will also be organised for two urban development authorities, one nagar palika, five nagar panchayats, 88 gram panchayats rural and 120 revenue villages.
These areas will together form 56 clusters.
“We are planning 138 sessions daily in these clusters.
Currently, we have enough vaccinators in the district,” said Suhas LY, district magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar.
The district needs 138 vaccinators, one for each camp, and 230 alternate vaccinators.
While Ghaziabad submitted its micro plan to the state government on Thursday, Gautam Budh Nagar’s blueprint will be ready by Friday, officials said.
Ghaziabad has been divided into 54 blocks and 568 clusters.
Officials have planned 9,176 sessions for July.
Officials said the district plans to inoculate around 40,000 people daily, because vaccination drives are carried out around 25 days in a month.
The health department will form 352 teams of vaccinators and other staff members to inoculate people.
Nurses from private institutions and government teachers would also assist them.
So far, a list of 100 nurses from three private medical colleges and 125 teachers have been received, officials said.
According to the chief medical officer, Ghaziabad, Dr NK Gupta, they will be given on-site training.
While nurses will be engaged as vaccinators, teachers will be deputed as verifiers of documents at session sites.
