New Delhi: Around 16 regional parties have declared receiving 1,026 donations worth 24,779 crore without PAN details, according to the Association of Polling Groups for Democratic Reform (ADR).
A report, prepared by ADR, focuses on donations stated by regional political parties during the 2019-20 financial year, as stated by the Parties to the Indian Election Commission (ECI).
According to the report, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), the Lok Jansakti Party, the Samajwadi Party and the AAM AADMI Party (AAP) saw a maximum percentage increase in their income from donations between TA 2018-19 and 2019-20.
“The top five parties, who expressed the highest contribution at TA 2019-20 were Shiv Sena, AIADMK, AAP, Biju Janata Dal and YSR-c.
From these parties, SHS, BJD and Yuvajana Congress Party Sramika Rythu declared their contribution, While AIDMK and AAP stated an increase in donations compared to 2018-19, “said the report.
The maximum contribution in the Cash Form stated by the Indonesian Union Muslim League, which collected Rs 4.63 Crore, followed by Pattali Makkal Tamil Nadu with RS 52.20 Lakh, LJP with RS 6 Lakh, Naga and Manipur, and Dravida and Dravdaa Munnetra Kazhagam ( DMK) with Rs 29,000.
The report said 16 regional parties had stated received 1,026 donations worth RS 24,779 crore without PAN details.
Of the 53 regional parties analyzed, only two who submitted their donation reports to the electoral commission in the specified time period and 28 others had delayed their submission of at least six to 320 days.
There are 23 regional political parties that have failed in submitting their donation reports to EC during 2019-20, to date.
With regard to the total donation, Shiv Sena leads with RS 62,859 Crore from 436 Donations, followed by all India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), which has claimed to receive Rs 52.17 Crore from three donations.
AAP stated that he received the RS 37.37 Crore which was the third highest among all regional parties.
BJD and Congress Party Yuvajana Sramika Rythu (YSR-C) has stated that the total contribution of Rs 28.20 Crore and Rs 8,924 Crore, respectively.
