Hyderabad: Karimnagar police on Monday arrested 16 people in connection with the kidnapping case and the murder of a 42-year-old car driver in Nedunur Village in Karimnagar District on July 29.
The driver, N Tirupathi, was kidnapped by the main allegations of G Surgender with his colleagues – Satyanarayana, V Nagaraju, V Trimurthy and K Chandar Rao – from Gundlapalli Village in a car on 29 July night when he was waiting at the store.
They hacked him to death in the bushes near the Nedunur.
“The fifth accused of having a criminal history,” said Commissioner of Karimnagar Police V Satyanarayana.
Along with five was accused, the police also arrested 11 of their colleagues – G Srinivas, G narender, J Daya, N Elllayya, N Gangaraju, G Praveen, P Sampad, O Ganapati Reddy, O Venkat Reddy and Domuraiiah – on charges of killing Tirupathi.
The association helped the five major accused of carrying out murders, police said.
During the investigation, the defendant acknowledged that they killed the driver suspecting that he played a role in the people who were transferred whose land in Nedunur was submerged in the water of a lower Manir (LMD) water could not receive government compensation.
The defendant was produced in front of the court.
They are returned in judicial custody.
