16 years Installing a Flagpole Tokakrum in Tumakuru

Tumakuru: A 16-year-old student was electrocuted when the iron pole he set up to lift the national flag for the celebration of independence day came in contact with an overhead cable in the lower government elementary school place on Sunday.
The deceased is Chandan, a 10th grade student in a private school in Chikkattalkere.
Shashank, 16, 10th grade students of private schools in Tumakuru and Pavan, 19, who worked in the tractor showroom, sustainable small burns in the accident.
The three were rushed to the hospital in Tumakuru, where Chandan was declared dead.
Kumar, Chandan’s father and a bus conductor, fell unconscious to see his son’s only son’s body.
According to Deputy Director of Public Instruction C Nanji, the three boys, all the residents of Karikerke, are school alumni and voluntarily take part in the celebration as they do every year.
The villagers accused that government school teachers are responsible for death and demanding action against them.
Nanjaiah, however, said every year, former students and villagers participated in programs held at the school.
He claimed no teacher told them to set up a flagpole.
“Compensation of RS 1 Lakh will be given to Chandan’s parents and the department will bear medical costs from injured,” he said.
Nanjaiah said Members of SDMC and teachers have submitted several applications to Bescom looking for the elimination of overhead cable drawn on their campus, but in vain.
“They now say the overhead cable will be removed on Monday,” he added.
