Hyderabad: In the midst of the fear of the Omicron variant, Minister of Health T Harish Rao said 1,600 extra beds would be available in the next few weeks in Hyderabad to overcome the next wave of Covid-19.
He said every government hospital in this country would be mentioned to have 100 beds while inaugurating an additional 100 beds at the Vanasthalipuram Area Hospital on Friday.
The minister said the chairman of Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed that sleep capacity was increased during the second wave itself.
He said more Basti Dawakhana will be opened because they have proven effective to serve poor people.
“Cm will immediately inaugurate a massive hospital near the fruit market that will serve a large population,” said Minister.
He asked people not to continue.
“I urge Telangana people not to neglect because reports have indicated that Covid-19 infection because the omicron variant can be less severe.
The omicron variant is very transmitting and there are still significant populations that have not received two doses,” he said.
“We have also bought 25 lakh house isolation kits,” said Minister.
He said the Vanasthalipuram Area Hospital had 220 beds now.
The Niloufer hospital will have 800 extra beds, he added.
